Website review

Peninsula Bridge Club is going to revamp its website to make it more representative of the large and vibrant club that it represents.

This involves many aspects such as its design, structure, and functionality and of course the content it presents.

We'd love your help in reviewing what we have and what we want. If you have used our existing website or have used any other bridge club website, we want to capture your views of what works well and what doesn't. We have a simple form below to help capture your thoughts in a way we can use. Please give us your views - and submit a comment many times if you have thoughts on lots of pages!

GNOT winners

The winners of the 2017 GNOT qualifier were the Whiddon team with Cath Whiddon, David Farmer, Lyn Smith and Jocelyn Bertram. Well done to them all! The runners up were the Davies team of Alan Davies, Vivien Eldridge, Anne Small and Ron Smith.

This event is a rare opportunity for members to gain GOLD POINTS at PBC and it was wonderful to see 14 teams participating this year. Thanks very much to our calm and competent director Ronnie Ng.

Jean Quin farewell

Jean Quin has been an active member of Peninsula Bridge Club for many years and today Sarah presented her with a bouquet to say farewell and good luck as Jean is moving to Queensland.

Beverley Schultz reminded us of the many contributions Jean had made to the club in the past. The cakes during the tea break were delicious - particularly the lemon one!

Thanks to Sue Riley

Did you know that our Bridge Club is the 4th largest in NSW and the 11th largest in Australia?

It's run by volunteers and one of our prominent volunteers has been Sue Riley. As well as director duties, Sue also runs the charity days.

She has recently given up writing the directors roster and today, Sarah, our president, took the opportunity to present her with a bouquet and say thank you for her great contribution to the Club. Thanks Sue.

Our Gold Coast triumph

As many people know, John and I met at the Gold Coast Congress eight years ago, so it's always somewhat of a sentimental journey for us, despite the fact that we haven't really distinguished ourselves in the past, although John, playing with his original team, had come  second in the Restricted.

This time we played with Sue and Ken Moffitt, a really interesting couple who live in the Northern Territory. Sue has achieved local fame for writing a book called "Darwin in the Wet".We met them at the Darwin Congress last year, and, as we all got on well, decided to play together.

Farewell/thanks to Jen Ardill

During the afternoon tea break on Saturday 25 February our President, Sarah Young, acknowledged the contribution that Jen Ardill has made to the Club since she first joined six years ago.

Jen has not only learnt the game of Bridge herself, but also been part of the Bridge education team, encouraging and helping new members to learn the game. She has run the library effectively and obtained the latest books for us to borrow. She has played with different partners and mentored many.

Her sense of humour and presence at the sessions will be missed, as Jen is leaving us and moving to Victoria in order to be closer to her family. Cake and flowers were the order of the day.  Good luck and thank you, Jen.
